Standard mattress sizes are what distinguished which bed mattress was for father, mother and baby bear. Goldilocks knew about mattress bed sizes, and that is why she comfortably snoozed off on the right one. The same goes for all of us. In order to get that longed for nights rest, getting the right bed mattress sizes does matter.

If you want to make sure that your mattress will accommodate the number of people in the bed, that your bedding will fit the mattress as well as the size of the room, getting the right standard mattress sizes for your purchase cannot be compromised. Knowing the following mattress sizes is a top priority in getting the right bed mattress:

KING Size Bed Dimensions - the largest of all, available in both California King (72 X 84) or a traditional King (76 X 80), which provides plenty of room for two people who want to have their own space when they sleep.

You could also indulge yourself in a grand Grand King size bed- 80x98 inch - 203x249 cm (novelty size by Select Comfort air beds) - This is for you if on a Sunday morning you would like the whole family including pets in beds!

QUEEN Size Bed Dimensions- is the next size down (60 X 80), and works well in most master bedrooms if space is an issue. This is one of the most popular sizes.

FULL - this size is in between a twin and king, at 53 X 75. It is enough space for one, but gets crowded for more. This size is common for antique beds, if you are looking for a mattress for an heirloom.

TWIN beds (38 X 75) are most popular for children or guest rooms. These are space saving options when you still need a useable area in the room.

It is important to know that standard mattress sizes may vary depending on the continent that you live in.

Once you start to explore the mattress world, you will soon realise that there is much more to a mattress than just standard mattress sizes. You will need to look at different brands and types of mattresses just to mention a few things that you need to look out for.

"If you pay peanuts, you get monkey" so goes the saying. Don't try to save money by buying a lesser mattress, but at the same time you do not want to unnecessary pay through your nose for a type of mattress that you will regret buying as it did not meet your expectations.

A good comfortable nights rest will help maintain and rejuvenate your health hence reading mattress reviews, will help you make a better informed decision based price, size, and type of mattress.

Once you've decided on the standard mattress sizes you need, it is crucial that you get the right brand and type of mattress best suited for you. Chanda a Solicitor/Attorney and bed mattress critique who birthed best-mattress-4u.com from her own personal journey of searching for good mattresses for her family after years of sleeping on what she terms "has seen better days mattresses" that compromised their health and sleep explores more mattress related issues that you will find meets all those unanswered questions for your quest to find the best night's sleep you can have - and that is priceless.

Most people consider a queen size bed to be a sufficient enough space for two people to sleep on. There is enough room for both to have their own "space" and not be crowded. Queen sized beds generally have enough dimension and is most likely the reason for their popularity. One of the biggest mistakes of all times is when a couple buys a bed and didn't take dimensions into consideration. Many squeeze into a full size bed and end up miserable after a short period of time.

Focusing on a queen size bed for now, queen size bed dimensions are six inches wider and five inches longer than a full size bed, which makes them about 60x80. Queen size beds generally fit very well in some guest rooms and for small to mid size master bedrooms. While the queen size bed is big enough for two it is exceptional for one person who likes plenty of sprawling room. Consider if the queen size bed in 60 inches wide, that gives each person 30 inches of sleep space. A standard twin bed is 38 inches wide so factor that it when deciding on a queen size bed because one person will get about 8 inches less of sleep space then they would on a twin size bed.

There are pros and cons in buying a queen size bed. One pro is if two people are going to sleep on it, it gives them more room than a double bed, plus there's 5 inches of extra length involved. And the queen size sheets and blankets are easy to find and very affordable compared to king size sheets. Cons include because there is only 30 inches of personal space per sleeper in a queen size bed, over time it just might not be roomy enough for two. Also, do not be fooled by beds that are called full/queen because you will have a very difficult time buying sheets for that size bed.

There is a larger version of the queen size bed; it is referred to as the Olympic Queen. The problem with this bed is again, sheets are difficult to find so you may have to buy king size sheets and alter them to fit. Simmons carries the Olympic Queen as a novelty size which is 66x80. Many people do consider that to be the perfect choice in queen size bed dimensions.

With all the different bed or mattress sizes out in the market today, it is no puzzle why some cannot decide on what to purchase. There are twin beds, king beds and queen beds among the choices for the homeowner of today. So, how do we tell these beds apart from each other? It will all boil down to knowing their measurements. Twin bed dimensions are different from king size bed dimensions and queen bed dimensions. Once you have an idea on what the mattress is for, then you will be certain to pick out the correct size for your home.

Twin beds are also commonly referred to as single beds. I know, confusing. To set it straight, twin bed dimensions come in measuring 39 inches across and 75 inches long. The twin bed is the common size usually found in dorm rooms and bunk beds. Twin beds are perfect for use in guest rooms in the home. One can also put in a trundle underneath the twin bed to provide additional sleeping space in the room. Another plus for the twin bed is the availability of beddings in the market. One never has to worry about what to put on the bed. However, being a short bed, the length of the twin bed is often not enough for adults. In this case, one can also try the twin bed extra, which is about five inches longer than the standard twin bed.

Are the twin bed and twin bed extra still not enough for your needs? You can try fitting in a queen size bed or a king size bed. If you are furnishing for one of the main bedrooms in the house, these two will fit in perfectly. The queen bed measures in at 60 inches wide and 80 inches long. If two people sleep on it, that is about 30 inches per person. For the king bed, it comes in two varieties, the Standard King and California King. Both are bigger than the queen bed. Measuring at 76 inches wide by 80 inches long is the Standard. While for the California-size, it is 72 inches wide by 84 inches of length.

The choice of mattress is yours.

The bedroom is a private place where we are supposed to be ourselves and be comfortable. Ironically, though, many of us are deprived of this comfort for several reasons.

There’s when sleep evades us, which is a sleep disorder called insomnia. There are several factors that contribute to insomnia, and research has it that one of them is our bed. If our bed size does not complement our size, sleeping movements and habits, sleep is likely to evade us. There are several bed sizes in the market, and many of us are actually clueless as to what they are or how different they are from one another.

Twin beds are the most common beds for kids. It is otherwise known as single bed. Simply, twin beds are a pair of 2 identical beds. Many parents prefer this bed size because it’s space saving. Twin bed dimensions are basically 39” wide and 75” long. Because of this size, they easily fit in small bedrooms for young children. In addition, because of the twin bed dimensions, buying bed sheets for a twin bed won’t be pricey.

Many twin bed beddings come in different patterns, designs and colors. For teenagers, twin extra long beds are 5” longer than the standard twin bed, and are therefore the beds commonly used in college dorms and are more suitable for taller teens. However, twin bed dimensions don’t complement the size of that a regular adult. Thus most adults prefer a king size bed or a queen size bed.

Ensuring a good night sleep may depend on a lot of factors, and undeniably, bed size is one of them. If you’re a kid or a regular teen, a twin bed is just right for you. But if you are an adult or a teen taller than most, and you use a teen bed, chances are sleep will not be that good.

I like sleeping. A good night’s sleep is equally as important as a very fruitful day. Devoting a very large amount of time on one and disregarding the other is just plain unhealthy. By depriving yourself of a good night’s sleep, you effectively diminish the chance of having more fruitful days ahead of you.

I like sleeping, and I totally adore my bed.

I have a single bed, which, weirdly, is also called a twin bed. I’ve had it since I was younger. I’ve grown so used to it, and the bed has aged perfectly, conforming to my sleeping habit and positions.

My twin bed, others say, is a bit small and narrow. It may appear so, but as I have mentioned, the bed and I have aged together well. Besides, my room is not that big, so the twin bed dimensions fit my bedroom space perfectly.

I’m really not a fan of big-sized beds. A king size bed or a queen size bed can be comfortable, it’s so wide that it takes forever to get to the edge of the bed to get to the bathroom.

My twin bed has a kick-ass headboard, really snazzy. Some people overlook the aesthetics of their headboard. I don’t. My twin bed headboard dimensions are just the right size for my bedroom. They complement my personality. They offer functionality and style.

My headboard has a storage area. This storage area is just right above my head, within reach. It can accommodate a few shirts and things, and it can also accommodate some books. I like to read a little before going to sleep, you see.

As I have mentioned, it’s very snazzy, too. You see, I salvaged a heavily designed pair of doors and used it as part of my headboard. I had parts of it upholstered while the parts with the carvings are showing.

So, above me, I have my storage place and then behind it are the two doors with carvings upholstered in some parts.

Some call it weird, but I call it snazzy.
