Many taller individuals find it tough looking for beds to fit small spaces because the majority of these beds in the marketplace are made to fit people up to 6 feet tall. Standard bed sizes in twin and full are quite popular due in part to the width of these beds but being able to fit into smaller spaces is important and often these beds aren't long enough to accommodate taller people.

Queen and king size beds are available but these won't fit into smaller spaces. There is a solution though that will allow you to keep the width of a twin or full size bed and provide the longer length you'd find in a queen or king bed. It's called extra long beds.

Extra long beds (or xl beds) can be explained as taking a twin or full size bed and making it in the length of a queen bed. Normal dimensions of a twin bed would be 39 inches by 75 inches. A twin xl bed would be 39 inches by 80 inches. Normal dimensions of a full bed would be 54 inches by 75 inches. The full xl bed would be 54 inches by 80 inches. Notice that the standard beds when made extra long are gaining 5 inches in length. This may not seem like a lot but it's the difference between sleeping someone 6 foot 3 inches to sleeping someone 6 foot 8 inches.

What typically happens with extra long sizes is that once you track down the mattress you'll need to find a bed frame to go with your mattress. XL beds are manufactured by sticking with the standard width construction of the headboard and footboard and bringing in the rail systems used on a queen or king bed with some modification to the slats or foundation used on these sizes. Finding bedding and sheets for extra long sizes has become easier as many department stores have started carrying these special sizes. Often if it isn't stocked you can easily special order the sizing that you need.

Besides twin extra long and full extra long bed sizes another size exists which is also considered an extra long size and that would be California king size. Cal king beds were created differently than standard king size beds both in width and length. Regular king sizes are 76 inches by 80 inches. California king bed sizes are less wide at 72 inches but the length is longer at 85 inches. This means these beds can sleep someone up to 7 feet tall. This makes cal king beds the best choice for length of bed if you have both the width and length in the room to be able to fit these beds.

In this article we've looked at extra long bed sizes in twin and full. These extra long beds provide additional length that allow for the same width but simply make the bed longer allowing sleeping for individuals up to 6 feet 8 inches tall. Besides twin xl and full xl size beds we learned about California king size beds which provide additional length above and beyond a standard king bed but are less wide. These cal king beds can sleep individuals up to 7 feet tall making them the best bed for accommodating taller people. If you're looking for longer length in a bed the sizes we've talked about in this article should be of help in providing a comfortable nights sleep.

Jon Rancia invites you to visit http://www.platformbeds.com for information about extra long beds and platform beds. Extra Long Beds are an emerging product category offering longer length in beds for more comfortable sleeping by taller individuals. Thanks for reading.

A telescopic loft ladder is an excellent compact remedy for the typical situation of getting up into the loft. Conventional loft ladders have to be folded and stored from the loft, whereas telescopic loft ladders are hidden away in the ceiling. It is a unique and extremely compact ladder that saves you loft area and fits into an incredibly tiny hatch opening. They are straightforward to use. All you have to do is just open the hatch, let down the ladder holder, release the catch, and pull the ladder down.

There's no need to worry about the compact design affecting the stability of the product since telescopic ladders are incredibly strong and sturdy. They're also just as safe as a conventional loft ladder if not safer. Most telescopic ladders are made of aluminum, so they'll hold up better than wood over time. They serve as a modern addition to any home and add worth to your household must you decide to sell. Thus, a telescopic loft ladder makes sense for anybody to set up in their home, especially those with area limitations.

As with any home improvement task, you must have the exact measurements before you set out to buy a telescopic ladder. Measure the length and width of your loft opening, as well as the distance from the opening to your floor. This will ascertain how big a telescoping ladder you'll need to install. Dimensions can determine the price, so it is impossible to plot out a budget without realizing the measurements. So by no means begin shopping until you have an idea of which loft ladder will effectively apply to you and your home.

Precise measurements are also essential so that you simply do not have trouble once you are actually installing a telescopic ladder. Not taking measurements that are precise can result in buying a ladder which is too large for your space. That could result in having to trim the ladder some when you finally make your purchase. This must be avoided at all costs because adjusting the dimensions in the ladder after you've bought it is an unnecessary hassle and isn't genuinely worth the problems involved.

When you finally have a good idea of the dimensions that are required for the ladder, you're ready to go shopping. From my experience, the best deals can be found on the web. As long as you've obtained the exact measurements, you will have no problems finding a good telescopic ladder through the internet. The web also has a wide assortment of loft ladders to suit your requirements. You'll be bound to find something that you are pleased with, at a sensible price.

Be sure to take weight limitations into account. If you are going to be carrying a great deal of heavy boxes to and from your loft, make certain that you obtain a loft ladder that can manage the weight. Otherwise you risk damaging your home, and even injuring yourself. When determining the required weight limitations, don't forget to include the weight of the items you expect to be carrying in addition to your body weight.

Do you want to learn more about purchasing a telescopic loft ladder? Additional information about telescopic loft ladders and which brand is the most reliable can be found at http://woodenloftladdershop.com/telescopic-loft-ladder.

Twin Xl mattresses measure 39 x 80 inches. These extra long mattresses are commonly used in dorm rooms where students need extra room. The specially sized XL Twin beds used in the dorm rooms are made with the 39" x 90" mattress so for things like sheeting, mattress pads and feather beds you will need to buy the XL Twin size.

Colleges like to offer the Twin XL size because the students not only use them as beds - but also as a couch and hang out zone and occasional dinner table. The extra 5 inches does not sound like much but that extra long space becomes invaluable in cramped dorm life.

Because twin xl is such a specific size many students are not prepared when dorm move in day comes and they have to scramble for the extra long pieces of bedding. The most important thing needed is to have Twin XL fitted sheets. Some students don't use or like the top flat sheet but at a minimum they want to cover the awful mattresses they will sleep on.

Because college students can be rough on their beds - the universities like to use specially covered mattresses that are waterproof and stain proof. However these easy care mattresses don't feel good and can be stiff, hot and cause sleeping issues. It is a great idea to add a buffer between the student and the dorm bed - whether a twin xl mattress pad or a twin xl feather bed.

Some students maybe have a twin comforter they want to bring for home and in some cases this is acceptable. The official Twin XL size comforter is 68 x 92 - but if your comforter measures 66 x 86 - is that good enough - probably. However, the extra length gives you more coverage and for a messy college student - being able to cover their disheveled bed is not a bad thing.

Because dorm mattresses are so stiff - we recommend adding a Twin XL feather bed to provide 'at home' like softness and support. A little known fact is that feather beds can actually help more air to move due to the loose feather filling. This compares to the vinyl covered dorm mattresses which can leave students with a warm night's sleep due to the air that cannot move with the thick vinyl covering they have.

If a student wanted extra support but not as much as a feather bed they can use a XL Twin mattress pad which usually has a fitted skirt that covers the side of the mattress and a top layer with some buffering material to soften a mattress.

Sometimes college students know that their beds are not going to be stacked and can consider using a full size comforter. You will not be able to use a full size sheet set or more specifically the full size fitted sheet with a twin xl bed. You may be able to use the full size flat sheet but will have excess fabric.

Double beds are always preferred among most people with 2 kids. They enable you to provide sleeping comforts to 2 people at the same time. But the problem with most king sized or queen sized beds is that they are very difficult to handle. Moving them across tiny stairways or small lifts is always a problem. And if you want to change the room completely, then it proves to be an added burden. At times like these, twin mattress dimensions are the best solutions.

Twin mattress dimensions are of many categories depending on what size you need. They could be purchased for kids, slightly taller people like adult women, and very tall people as well. The size should always be proportionate to the room. If you get twin beds that are too big for the room, then it causes a huge problem in terms of space to move about. Twin mattress dimensions must thus be carefully planned while you are decorating the room. It should be taken in proportion to the room that you want to keep the twin beds in.

Twin mattress dimensions have an added advantage that they can also be arranged as a bunk - one on top of the other. This greatly saves the space in the room and enables you to have the benefits of it without the problems involved. They can also be placed side by side. If your kids grow up and start needing their privacy, you could also have them separately arranged.

They are not as problematic as single mattresses, and yet they serve the purpose. You can buy this product based on the height of the people for whom they are meant as well. The product thus provides you with a huge heap of advantages. They are inexpensive when compared to king or queen sized beds, and are much easier to maintain.

There are many online stores available that sell these comfortable mattresses. You can make quick payments using your credit card and get your set delivered right at your door step. Order a set - today!

You can read more information before you buy twin mattress dimensions, and read exclusive reviews serta perfect day from my websites.

XL Twin Mattresses, Bedding, Dorm Rooms.?

I'm going to college this fall and I've sent numerous emails to their housing department and they still have not answered. I want to know the standard size for dorm room mattresses, I understand that they are extra long twin, I just want the dimensions. I was also wondering where I could find some comforters and what not. I already know of JCPenney, Target, Linens 'n Things, The Company Store, Bed, Bath and Beyond, Walmart, and a few others. And also, can I fit a normal twin size comforter on the XL twin mattress? I heard I could do that, I just need the XL sheets. Thanks.

With the release of the Disney animated Cars and its soon to be follow-up Cars 2, the Little Tikes Race Car Bed has once again become popular in the bedrooms of many little boys. If you are thinking about buying one of these great beds, then read on and I will give you the top tips that you would need to know when purchasing and assembling one of these great beds.

Why Choose a Race Car Bed?

That's a good question, and the answer is that most parents have found these beds are great when their little boy has been making the transition from crib to bed and with these beds it couldn't be smoother. Many parents have been thrilled to find that their little boy has even been going to bed earlier, just for the pleasure of sleeping in his new race bed. Going to bed can now be a pleasurable experience, and he knows that he will be sleeping in comfort with his new friend and better still in his own room.

Which Bed To Choose?

First up, what are the choices of Little Tikes Race Car Beds? Well, first there is the most popular bed which is Little Tikes Lightning McQueen Race Car Twin Bed. This is the bed based on the little character from the aforementioned Disney movie. The bed is in a red color with decals matching those from the movie. This little character has been popular with little boys everywhere and having a bed like this has never been more fun.

The second choice of bed is the standard Little Tikes Sports Car Twin Bed which is exactly the same as the Little Tikes Lightning McQueen Race Car Bed in dimensions and shape, but without the Lightning McQueen decals. These beds come in a selection of colors of either primary blue, cherry red, white, green, yellow, black, and there's even pink for your little Miss Penelope Pitstop.

Finally, Little Tikes has produced the Little Tikes Lightning McQueen Roadster Toddler Bed, so now even little boys from between the ages of 15 months up to 5 years can have their own cute little bed. These beds look exactly the same as the previous beds, but are of much smaller dimensions.

Sleeping Safely: How Safe?

This is one of the most important questions parents want to know, and with a Little Tikes Race Bed, you can rest assured that he will be very safe.

The sides of these beds are high enough that you won't need to add rails, and these sides become higher towards the top end of the bed. They become lower at the foot, which allows our Little Boy Racer to climb up on to his bed or slide down and out. One thing to not worry about is there won't be a problem with him rolling out in his sleep.

How Strong are These Beds?

These beds are strong! If you are familiar with other Little Tikes products, you would know that they only manufacture quality products, and these race car beds are no exception. Made from double-wall plastic construction, these beds are made with the "pebbled" plastic common with other Little Tikes products, and these beds will be able to handle the most boisterous of games.

What Should I Consider Before Buying One of These Beds?

The most important thing to consider is the space needed for one of these beds. They are larger than a standard bed, so make sure that you have adequate space. Also, if you are ordering on-line, make sure you schedule the delivery time for when you are in because the box is large.

What Isn't Supplied with One of These Beds?

These beds are designed to fit a standard size twin mattress which you must supply yourself. The Lightning McQueen Roadster Toddler Bed uses the smaller U.S. standard crib mattress. Also you should supply your own box springs, or if you prefer, you can use a bunk bed support board.

The bed does come with three wooden mattress supports, but these alone won't support the mattress. These can be placed at two levels depending on how high or low you would like the mattress to be.

Will I Be Able to Assemble One of These Beds?

Yes, don't worry, you won't have a problem. The only tool you'll need is a screw driver and the assembly instructions are very clear to read and understand. On average it takes about one hour to assemble, with some people doing it in less.

The only care that is really needed is when applying the decals as these can be a little fiddly. It's probably best to apply these first before assembling the bed, although you won't be able to do this with the wheels because they must first be screwed on because the decal will then cover the centre screw. The thing to remember when applying the decals is to just be patient and take your time. I would personally advise you to have someone help so they can hold the other side of the decal as it is being applied.

Racing Off to Dreamland

Just watch the surprise on his face as he enters his new bedroom to see his Little Tikes Race Car Bed waiting there for its new friend, and most importantly you will be able to rest assured knowing that he is happy safely dreaming of the open road through Dreamland.
