With all the different bed or mattress sizes out in the market today, it is no puzzle why some cannot decide on what to purchase. There are twin beds, king beds and queen beds among the choices for the homeowner of today. So, how do we tell these beds apart from each other? It will all boil down to knowing their measurements. Twin bed dimensions are different from king size bed dimensions and queen bed dimensions. Once you have an idea on what the mattress is for, then you will be certain to pick out the correct size for your home.

Twin beds are also commonly referred to as single beds. I know, confusing. To set it straight, twin bed dimensions come in measuring 39 inches across and 75 inches long. The twin bed is the common size usually found in dorm rooms and bunk beds. Twin beds are perfect for use in guest rooms in the home. One can also put in a trundle underneath the twin bed to provide additional sleeping space in the room. Another plus for the twin bed is the availability of beddings in the market. One never has to worry about what to put on the bed. However, being a short bed, the length of the twin bed is often not enough for adults. In this case, one can also try the twin bed extra, which is about five inches longer than the standard twin bed.

Are the twin bed and twin bed extra still not enough for your needs? You can try fitting in a queen size bed or a king size bed. If you are furnishing for one of the main bedrooms in the house, these two will fit in perfectly. The queen bed measures in at 60 inches wide and 80 inches long. If two people sleep on it, that is about 30 inches per person. For the king bed, it comes in two varieties, the Standard King and California King. Both are bigger than the queen bed. Measuring at 76 inches wide by 80 inches long is the Standard. While for the California-size, it is 72 inches wide by 84 inches of length.

The choice of mattress is yours.

The bedroom is a private place where we are supposed to be ourselves and be comfortable. Ironically, though, many of us are deprived of this comfort for several reasons.

There’s when sleep evades us, which is a sleep disorder called insomnia. There are several factors that contribute to insomnia, and research has it that one of them is our bed. If our bed size does not complement our size, sleeping movements and habits, sleep is likely to evade us. There are several bed sizes in the market, and many of us are actually clueless as to what they are or how different they are from one another.

Twin beds are the most common beds for kids. It is otherwise known as single bed. Simply, twin beds are a pair of 2 identical beds. Many parents prefer this bed size because it’s space saving. Twin bed dimensions are basically 39” wide and 75” long. Because of this size, they easily fit in small bedrooms for young children. In addition, because of the twin bed dimensions, buying bed sheets for a twin bed won’t be pricey.

Many twin bed beddings come in different patterns, designs and colors. For teenagers, twin extra long beds are 5” longer than the standard twin bed, and are therefore the beds commonly used in college dorms and are more suitable for taller teens. However, twin bed dimensions don’t complement the size of that a regular adult. Thus most adults prefer a king size bed or a queen size bed.

Ensuring a good night sleep may depend on a lot of factors, and undeniably, bed size is one of them. If you’re a kid or a regular teen, a twin bed is just right for you. But if you are an adult or a teen taller than most, and you use a teen bed, chances are sleep will not be that good.

I like sleeping. A good night’s sleep is equally as important as a very fruitful day. Devoting a very large amount of time on one and disregarding the other is just plain unhealthy. By depriving yourself of a good night’s sleep, you effectively diminish the chance of having more fruitful days ahead of you.

I like sleeping, and I totally adore my bed.

I have a single bed, which, weirdly, is also called a twin bed. I’ve had it since I was younger. I’ve grown so used to it, and the bed has aged perfectly, conforming to my sleeping habit and positions.

My twin bed, others say, is a bit small and narrow. It may appear so, but as I have mentioned, the bed and I have aged together well. Besides, my room is not that big, so the twin bed dimensions fit my bedroom space perfectly.

I’m really not a fan of big-sized beds. A king size bed or a queen size bed can be comfortable, it’s so wide that it takes forever to get to the edge of the bed to get to the bathroom.

My twin bed has a kick-ass headboard, really snazzy. Some people overlook the aesthetics of their headboard. I don’t. My twin bed headboard dimensions are just the right size for my bedroom. They complement my personality. They offer functionality and style.

My headboard has a storage area. This storage area is just right above my head, within reach. It can accommodate a few shirts and things, and it can also accommodate some books. I like to read a little before going to sleep, you see.

As I have mentioned, it’s very snazzy, too. You see, I salvaged a heavily designed pair of doors and used it as part of my headboard. I had parts of it upholstered while the parts with the carvings are showing.

So, above me, I have my storage place and then behind it are the two doors with carvings upholstered in some parts.

Some call it weird, but I call it snazzy.

When moving into a new house, one of the more important decisions to be made by the homeowner is the use of space. The bedroom is by no means an exception, which is why when buying a new mattress, bed dimensions are of the utmost importance.

There is the subject of knowing the terms as each one differs by its approximate size. There’s the “single,” “twin,” “full,” “queen” and “king” variations, and knowing which is which can make all the difference. For this discussion, we will focus on twin bed mattress dimensions.

Although the name itself might sound as if the mattress is good for two, a twin bed usually fits just one person. So, if you are considering getting a small bed either for your child or the guest room, you need to know the correct twin bed mattress dimensions. However, if you need more space, it would be best to consider getting a full-size mattress instead.

Here are the things you should consider when getting a twin bed mattress:

Length – The twin-size mattress is usually 75 inches long, about five inches shorter than the king and queen-size types.

Width – It is about 39 inches wide. A full bed is 54 inches.

Depth – This will vary according to the style of the mattress. Usual twin bed mattress dimensions will place this in a range of five to 20 inches deep.

Variations – There is such a thing as an extra long model, where the twin-size mattress can be as long as 80 inches. This is about the same length as that of the king and queen-size beds.

Exceptions – Twin bed mattresses are rarely used with wood-frame waterbeds, as the width is too narrow.

Another thing to remember is the twin mattress is sometimes known as the single bed mattress. Usual measurements are 39 inches wide and 75 inches long.
